Children 14 years or older need written parental permission to ride alone.

The weight limit for all our tours is 100 kg.

We provide riding helmets

Please note that it is not allowed to ride with backpacks or bags.We reccomend that you bring warm gloves and a thin hat that can fit under the riding helmet.

Did you know that while most other breeds have a maximum of three gaits, the Icelandic horse prides it self with five!
Horse or pony?
Make no mistake, although tiny in stature, calling the Icelandic horse a pony is not how you want to start a conversation with its owner.
The only horsebreed
In Iceland you will find just this one horse breed – the good old Icelandic horse.
Import of foreign horse breeds it’s forbidden and if an Icelandic horse leaves Iceland, there is no coming back!
Many colors
The Icelandic horse has over 40 base colours and over 100 colour variations. In fact, you can now find almost all known horse colours within this breed.

Hestamiðstöðin Borgartún is a family company located in Æðaroddi 36, Akranes wish is only 45 km from Reykjavik. Our goal is to meet the needs of every customer as best we can with personal service. We specialize in small groups or private adventure tours for every kind of customer.
We are also have training and breeding facility with spacious boxes, and attached to the stable is an indoor arena which is necessary for training horses and giving riding lessons.
